Most people probably think we have an easy time when we set out to check the route in Spring, but the truth is, it's good old fashioned hard work. We spend long days checking every tulip and distance, not to mention deciding on a re-route or two if we find a road that's going to be closed in June.

Likewise on the day itself - the crews in the course cars are people you hardly see, but they are out there from very early in the morning making sure that the event runs smoothly. Step forward event supporters North Wales VW, who last year not only lent us the pristine Golf R you see in the picture but arranged to lend us three more course cars and made their facilities available for work in the evenings.

This year NW VW are stepping up again to provide us with three course cars, as well as something a little different. They will all be 'logo-d up' and easy to spot so give them a wave when you see them on the event. Not only that, but their workshop facilities will be available to our Brit Assist repair crew each evening - comforting to know if you should strike trouble before the start and just one of the things that makes the Three Castles way of doing things a little different.

Having this help makes all the difference to our work and so, we hope, to the event itself come June. A big thank you to North Wales VW in Llandudno Junction, now part of the renowned Sytner Group, for making it possible. To visit their website click here
